Our proximity alarms detect E-fields that are present around AC power lines. The E-field strength and shape are dependent upon voltage and other factors.
The E-field strength typically weakens as it gets further away from a power line. Proximity alarms warn operators and ground personnel when a boom reaches a certain E-field strength.
To set up, an operator will bring equipment to a known distance which as shown below has a corresponding E-field strength.
Proximity alarms detect E-fields, not OSHA distance regulations, that can change and vary depending on the equipment being operated and other factors.
OSHA requires the employer to identify the safe distance. OSHA “Proximity Alarm,” is defined as “a device that provides a warning of proximity to a power line that has been listed, labeled, or accepted by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory in accordance with 29 CFRn1910.7”

The simplest solution is to fit a load pin in the compensation sheave, wedge socket or clamp on rope. A large digit display (4” or 8”) is fitted to the Trolley frame. Simply connect the pin and calibrate.
Applications for load monitoring pins are, sheave blocks that require monitoring, shackle pins, Wedge sockets for overhead cranes, yolk load monitoring, pad eye, towing, mooring systems, test bed load monitoring. Anywhere there is a existing pin in the single or double shear configuration.

Running line monitors are commonly used for applications using Winches to pull objects into place, mobile and static cranes, towing on ships, Mooring systems for barges or ships.
We have used 304 and 316 stainless steel for all the components apart from the sheave wheels which are steel. Stainless steel sheave wheels are available on request. The main feature of this new RLM is the quick release wheels and maintenance free bearings. The monitor can be fitted to the rope in minutes with no tools required.
Multiple mounting options are available to suit your application including prop shaft mount, eye bolts for chain mount, feet for direct mount to boom and position for fiber web slings to be attached.
